Have a clue, guys, ‘50/50’ is a great date movie

Looks as if the Joseph Gordon Levitt/Set Rogen flick “50/50” is a bit of a bust in terms of box-office take. That’s too bad because, 1, it’s a pretty good film and, 2, those audiences that actually see the film seem to like it. I went to the early evening show on Saturday and, amid the two-thirds full smallish theater, I sat next to a young woman who, when the film approached its climax, was sniffling like a toddler fighting the flu. But in a good way, you know?

Maybe Boxofficemojo is right and the film’s business will pick up. Hard to say. Doesn’t seem to be appealing to today’s main audience of young males. Only ones going seem to be those smart ones tagging along with their girlfriends.Nothing quite like offering a friendly shoulder to a significant other in need of … uh, affection?

Of course, in my marriage, the one needing comfort most often is yours truly.
