By the way, ever since 1981 my brother (see post immediately below) has had to live down the fact that he carries the same name as the unfortunate titular character from the made-for-TV film “The Killing of Randy Webster.” The actor Gary McCleery played Randy Webster, a young guy shot and killed by Houston police.

No one remembers the film, and McLeery’s career dissolved in the late ’80s. But my brother is still around, living in Vinegar Flats and lecturing on Egyptology to anyone who will listen.

And, anyway, I have my own reasons for not feeling sorry for him.
