It’s a bar, with a side of sweet awesomeness

Tricia Jo Webster

Here’s what you should do tomorrow … stop into the Sidebar & Grill and order some sweet potato fries. Go for lunch. Pop in after work. Drop by on your way home from the gym. Whatever. Just get there. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

These things are addicting. Melt-in-your-mouth salty sweetness with just the right amount of crunch. Ask for some spicy dipping sauce and you’ll never eat a regular French fry again. (As if that could actually happen … but these sweet potato fries are good enough to pull you away from your regular old russets every once in a while.) side friEs

If you’re in it for a full meal, try their Pork Chop sandwich and let me know what you think. I hear it’s a little healthier than the ones I grew up with, (as in, not a pork doughnut on a bun) and a lot more creative. I was going to order one tonight, but Graham, the Sidebar’s charming owner/bartender/cook, made it sound so appealing I thought I might not ever want an old-school pork chop sandwich again. (As if that could actually happen … but I just wasn’t ready to risk it — instead I played it safe with a side of fish tacos, which were sublime, but now I’mm really craving a pork doughnut.)

You’ll find the Sidebar & Grill at 1011 W. Broadway.
