On Thursdays, try Veraci at the Market
I was going to post this last night, but Thursday was the last day of May and I didn’t want to jinx the weekend, much the less the month of June or even the whole summer. Hey, it could happen.
So I’ve waited until now to write about the slices of Veraci Pizza that my brother and I, along with the poet Dennis Held, ate at the Veraci Pizza site at the Thursday Market in the Perry Street District. There, set among the fruit, veggie, bread and various other kinds of grocery/food booths, sat the Veraci portable pizza oven. My brother ordered pepperoni, I the amante di carni (meat-lover’s pizza), and both were cooked just the way I’ve come to like it — the thin-crust style I’ve enjoyed in Italian cities from Palermo to Milan.
Since the limited seating was all taken, we went inside The Shop to eat. Which meant that if we’d wanted, we could have ordered some of the best coffee Spokane has to offer. But the pizza was enough.
So if you want some decent pizza, check out the Thursday Market on Perry. It makes for an enjoyable evening, even one that ends a day of rain.
