Paddles and poppers

Have you been to the Manito Tap House ? Probably. Because it seems like everyone in the city is there every time we go … there’s always a line and the place is filled to the gills. I’m not saying this like it’s a bad thing. In fact, I’m saying it like it’s an awesome thing. Because it’s always worth the wait — and the wait is never THAT long.
You may not know this, but Spokane loves to eat and drink. And when we find a place that lets us do these things, in new and different ways, we keep coming back for more.
Last time we were there we decided to try the beer sampler paddle — the place features 50 different tap handles. That’s 5-OH! Yay! Our server brought us each a pencil and a 6-sided (what is that, a hexagon?) piece of paper. We each wrote down 6 different beers/ciders we wanted to try and then waited for our wish list to be filled. Super yay! Talk about a fun and, really, inexpensive way to try a bunch of different brews without the fear of commitment. The surprise of the bunch (between Eric and I we tried 12 different drinks — I know, suddenly I’m a math whiz!) was a watermelon something-or-other; I can’t remember if it was an ale or a lager or what, but it was delightfully light and summery.
Of course when you drink it’s always a good idea to eat, so, we ate. We started with a plate of jalapeno poppers (magically delicious) and moved on to a burger that is worthy of a post of its own — here’s a hint: it incorporates bacon in a way you’ve probably never imagined. Stay tuned.
You’ll find Manito Tap House at 3011 South Grand Blvd, on the south hill.
