One more day to go…

Good morning, Netizens...

Ah, the last day of 2009 has arrived.

Like most days, I survived my birthday yesterday, sans parties or other social engagements. Instead I spent most of the latter part of the day sitting in a recliner, fast in love with Tylenol since I was stricken with some undefined ailment that had struck my beloved wife just the day before. Whatever the hell it is/was, consisted of a Jim Dandy of a migraine headache, something that has seldom has bothered my aging fat-body before. Yesterday my doctor, during a regularly-scheduled appointment pronounced me fit as a fiddle, and by mid-afternoon I was whimpering in a recliner dependent upon pain medication and by eight o'clock last night was out of it.

However, I awoke at my prescribed time this morning, found my Great Chair calling out my name and fell once more into the throes of another day in paradise, with no lingering symptoms of yesterday to otherwise stop me from making forward progress.

To my utter surprise and delight, an old friend, John Jansen showed up and commented on my aging, as he, Marty and many others go back a long ways to Usenet News and The Phoenix Newsgroup, which predates Community Comment by over a decade. In retrospect, it has been a really good run.

As much as I loathe New Years Resolutions, I'm going to take yet another stab at making a few, with encouragement to everyone to include some of your own. If time and energy permits, we may even look at the news that shaped our lives in Spokane this year.

It is a good day to end 2009, and tomorrow we can start all over again with a clean slate. Will we collectively screw it up, or can we really make this a New Year when we turn this boat around? That seems to be a fair question.
