Animal and Child Abuse Link—What is your Experience?

According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, animal abuse is one of a number of red flags for children who are being abused themselves. But as April comes to an end, it seems that The Spokesman Review isn’t going to publish a story on the link between abuse of animals and child abuse as part of their child abuse series. As a parent and teacher, I am very concerned that still today many people don’t see a connection between animal abuse and child abuse. I’m not sure what I can do to help, however, besides modeling kindness and respect to humans and non humans. I would of course report any abuse I knew of, but I never hear of anything accept what’s on the news? If you’ve encountered animal abuse, what did you do? Do you regret what you did? Would you handle things differently?
