The Slice

Pork-loading not endorsed as pre-race Bloomsday regimen

I have to admit, that's just speculation on my part.

I cannot recall seeing a nutrition expert or sports physiologist actually address the question "Are bacon, ham and pork chops good things to eat in the days leading up to a big athletic event?"

For all I know, they would say "Sure, go for it."

In any case, the appeal of believing that some sort of special dietary plan could give you a real boost come Sunday is pretty understandable. It's too late to do much about your level of fitness, after all.
