Too soon?

Once November arrives, there is a certain plausibility to deflecting a casual social invitation with the counter-offer, “Let’s get together after the holidays.”

Even if early November is still weeks away from Thanksgiving.

But how about now? Could you get away with saying that on Oct. 20?

I don’t think so. But then I wouldn’t have believed people would text while driving, until I saw it happening.
