Delaying parenthood
I’ve come across some news reports that more women are freezing their (unfertilized) eggs for use later in life, when they are “done” with their career.
This apparently corresponds with a trend showing that for the first time ever, more American women are unmarried than married.
One must assume they aren’t all hard working career lawyers, brokers and scientists - whatever the reasons - some women freeze their young eggs to avoid fertility problems when they start a family in their late 30s and 40s.
This is a new technique - in some countries it’s still considered experimental, because un-fertilized eggs often are damaged when they thaw. Frozen embryos (or fertilized eggs) are much more stable during freezing and thawing.
So what do you say? Good idea? Bad idea? Too weird? Perfectly okay?
