Leadership appeared early
In November the people in northeast Spokane will be electing a new city councilperson to represent District 1.
I think Amber Waldref is the right person for that position. I have known Amber since she was 5 years old and a student in my kindergarten class.
I was able to observe Amber throughout her grade school years at St. Patrick School. Amber was always active in various activities. Her leadership abilities became evident when she was involved in student government.
At Gonzaga Prep, Amber was nominated by one of her teachers to become a member of “Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students,” a unique tribute received by only 5 percent of America’s students. This award is just another indication of her leadership skills.
After graduation from Georgetown University, Amber moved to Seattle and became active in civic affairs while earning her master’s degree from Antioch University. Amber also graduated from Leadership Spokane 2008.
Since returning to Spokane, Amber has volunteered for various civic activities and at present is vice chair of the Logan Neighborhood Council.
So, District 1 voters, if you prefer an honest, ambitious, intelligent, responsible leader, I encourage you to vote for Amber Waldref for City Council.
