Chickin’ it

Find one-of-a-kind treasures, like this upholstered chair from the 2006 event, at The Farm Chicks Antique Show this weekend. (Megan Cooley / The Spokesman-Review)

I kind of assumed that—like me—everyone else’s social calendars this coming weekend revolved around The Farm Chicks Antique Show . I’ve bumped into a couple of friends, though, who’d forgotten about it until I mentioned it. Hello?! Do y’all know how lucky we are to have such a great event in our backyard? I have friends driving up from Portland just to be a part of it.

If you’re thinking antiques aren’t your thing, come anyway. There’s much more to it than that.

Besides, it’s at the Spokane Fair & Expo Center now (just like last year), which is close for most people and an easy place to park.Yes, it gets crowded but not claustrophobic crowded like the tents felt when the show was held in Fairfield.

So who’s going to be there? I’d love to hear stories about what folks are doing to gear up for the show. I’m stitching up a couple of projects from The Farm Chicks’ book to give as welcome gifts to my friends. I’ll post photos here once I’m done.

Speaking of photos, I just put up a bunch from past years’ Farm Chicks shows on my other blog to get everyone in the mood.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday. I’ll be donning one of my Nana’s aprons. See you there.
