• Washington State: Though I don’t think anything linked here will be read in Cairo (maybe not Pullman either), here’s what we’ve got. … Our story on freshman walk-on Jared Byers, who has filled a hole at fullback for the Cougars recently. … Also, we have our Pac-10 picks . … And that’s it for items out of the Cougar camp this morning. If you want more notes, check out this post .

• Around the Pac-10: ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has his picks for the weekend and things to watch . … Buster Sports Nick Daschel says Autzen Stadium has nothing on old Husky Stadium for noise. … The Pac-10 has a bunch of freshmen running around like lost chickens. They’re not looking for Humanities 101, they’re carrying the football. … Washington: With a lack of depth comes a lack of excellent special teams play. … Oregon State: The secondary will get tested once again. … Oregon: If you read just one link today, make it this George Schroeder column . … California: Oregon boy moves to California, grows beard .
