But does anything about Oscar make sense?

“Juno” may not win a single Oscar in the Feb. 24 orgy of Hollywood self-congratulation. But this year’s “Little Miss Sunshine” already has benefited from its four nominations (Best Picture, Best Actress for Ellen Page, Best Original Screenplay for Diablo Cody, Best Director for Jason Reitman).

How so? By having its soundtrack jump to the top of the sales charts.

Here’s the thing, though. Once again, Hollywood has again made its point that a film can be considered “best” even if its director isn’t. Case in point: “Atonement” director Joe Wright saw his film win a Best Picture nod while he went without.

Meanwhile, Julian Schnabel does earn a Best Director nod while his film, “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” doesn’t.

As long as I live, I’m never gonna figure this stuff out.
