I’d keep a Snickers bar nearby, though

I’ve yet to see a wire review of “Flightplan,” the Jodie Foster feature about a woman losing her young daughter on, of all things, a jet liner. I mean, other than the rest rooms and the cockpit, where can you hide?

Lots of places, apparently. I’ve seen the trailer, and it looks as if Foster – no mere housewife she, her character is the plane’s designer – is able to find more secret places in this two-story airliner than there are nuts in a Snickers bar. Or fat calories in a Happy Meal . Or clichホs in a State of the Union address.

Whatever, if Foster can make a turkey such as “Contact” worth watching, despite the presence of Matthew McConaughey , she can certainly make us believe in a high-altitude thriller such as “Flightplan.”

Below: Jodie Foster is no longer the tomboy who starred in such movies as “Tom Sawyer” and “Smile, Jenny, You’re Dead.”
