Let’s take to the airwaves …

I’m all about self-promotion (although if you knew any of my friends, they’d tell you the opposite; but what the hell do friends know?), and so I’m not above previewing the “Movies 101” show that I’ll be emceeing on Spokane Public Radio, KPBX FM 91.1 , at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Here’s how I’ll introduce things:

“Let’s play true or false. Ready? Michael Moore is the best thing that’s ever happened to documentary filmmaking. If you have no ready answer to that, don’t worry. We won’t tell the new SAT board . Fact is, the term documentary and Michael Moore may not even belong in the same sentence. The director of ‘Roger and Me,’ the Oscar-winning ‘Bowling for Columbine’ and last year’s ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ may have created his own genre altogether. Would you call it Angry Cinema? Advocacy Cinema? Or, to use a term that ‘Movies 101’ co-host Mary Pat Treuthart coined, would you call it Specific Perspective Cinema? Those are just a few of the questions that I, Dan Webster, the incomparable Ms. Treuthart and special guest Leonard Oakland will discuss coming up in this week’s edition of ‘Movies 101’ right here on Spokane Public Radio. So please, stay tuned.

That’s the pitch. Hey, I should have gone into ad copywriting . I might actually have made some money.
