Truth should be the standard

The Spokesman-Review

When I saw the story that Officer Karl Thompson never “swore to tell the truth,” I was appalled.

I have a few choice words for Officer Thompson. I believe that one of the values that he should have learned throughout his life is “to tell the truth,” but it seems that since the Otto Zehm fiasco he has done nothing to try and get this whole sordid incident past him and get on with his life. If he never acknowledges what happened, he will never be free.

Thompson’s attorneys and the rest of the officers who are trying to cover up the whole incident are just as guilty. I do hope that when Thompson goes on trial on June 2 that once and for all Otto Zehm and his family can finally have some peace and a closing to his demise.
