Another green wedding
By now, you probably read the update on Spokane’s can-do couple . Andrea Parrish and Peter Geyer, who collected $4,000 worth of aluminum cans to pay for their wedding, tied the knot last weekend. CANgratulations! (I couldn’t resist.)
Here’s another couple with a commitment to hosting a green wedding: Julia Davis and Andy McLeod, of Maine, are growing and raising all the food they plan to serve at their Sept. 25 wedding.
They’ve been tending a 7,500-acre garden for the past year, and they raised 50 chickens they plan to slaughter for the meal. (Please tell me someone else is doing that for them. I’ve seen what chocolate frosting can do to a wedding dress. Chicken butchering would cause more damage, I’m sure.)
Here’s their menu …
Appetizers:
Veggie sticks (carrots, cucumbers, cauliflower, green peppers, etc.)
Hummus
Fruit (cantaloupe, watermelon, apples, etc.)
Bread (from a local bakery)
Cheese
Pesto (homemade)
Dinner:
Roast chicken
Autumn gold squash soup
Oven fries
Cubed hubbard squash with kale
Green salad
Caprese salad (tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and olive oil)
Asian cabbage slaw
Pickles
Bread (from a local bakery)
Dessert:
Pie (From a local bakery)
Ice cream (Made by the moms)
Source:
Re-Nest
