Hit-and-pedal incident

While walking on the Prairie Trail on a beautiful Saturday morning, I was struck from behind by a bicyclist. My forearm was scraped and I was knocked off the trail.

Approximately eight to 10 riders in the pack witnessed the accident. No one stopped. Within 30 seconds they were all gone – back to the ride, the conversation, the fun.

I received first aid treatment at the Kroc Center a block away. As part of a biking family, it is disappointing to see such egocentric and inconsiderate behavior, particularly because it reflects on all bicyclists.

These riders were part of an organized Blue Cruise ride with numbers to identify themselves pinned to their shirts. No. 215, you and your pals left the scene of an injury accident. Hope that little bump in the road (me) didn’t mess up your day.
