Magic Lantern dead? Grab the paddles! Clear!
The Magic Lantern saga continues. I just received another e-mail from theater owner Joe Davis. An edited version of the message, which went out to several recipients, follows:
Hello everyone. I just want to give a brief explanation as to why you’re getting this email.
Last Wednesday I declared the Magic Lantern was closing the next day (Thursday), as I was no longer able to complete the work of several people on a daily basis and keep it viable. I was tired, advertising wasn’t happening and film booking was suffering.
This weekend someone stepped forward to run the theater and has jumped in with both feet to help keep it open. So thanks to her (Zana Morrow), the ML will open its doors Friday and will continue showing great cinema. I’ve agreed to stay on while things transition.
Sorry for any confusion, but the Lantern is open, and that is what really matters. Below is a schedule of upcoming films and dates. These are hard dates, so reviews can be gotten in advance, and you can be sure the film will play.
Thanks for all the support.
