Boobs: Two ways to show your support

Tricia Jo Webster

If you love boobs, and I know you do, make a run across the state line this weekend for a couple of great breast cancer fundraisers.

BreastFestFlier-Cheers

The first is Paddy’s Breast Fest , which begins at 6 on Friday evening, at Paddy’s Sports Bar in Coeur d’Alene. The Carper family, siblings Chris, Melisa and father Pat, own Paddy’s, and they organized this fundraiser as a way to honor their mother/wife, who lost her courageous battle with breast cancer almost 9 years ago. There’ll be food and drink specials, a dart tournament, a 50/50 raffle and BINGO with prizes for winners. Plus, many local businesses have donated items for a silent auction. Proceeds from your Friday night good time at Paddy’s will benefit the Kootenai Cancer Center and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure … which brings us to Weekend Event #2.

The Coeur d’Alene Komen Race for the Cure starts Sunday morning at 10, on the North Idaho College campus. Our family did this race last year (OK, we walked 5k in about 75 minutes, which didn’t actually qualify as a race, but you get the point) and it was beautiful. The course takes you along the shores of the Lake and through downtown – and on a sunny September morning, it’s gorgeous. Plus, the positive energy was amazing! Registration is still open, so, unless you’ll be walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s walk in Riverfront Park, there’s not a better way to spend your Sunday morning.

Seriously, people. It costs money to keep the girls healthy. Give a little. It’ll all come back to you in the end, I promise.

Find Paddy’s Sports Bar at 601 W. Appleway in Coeur d’Alene.
