To crafters, this could very well be the center of the universe

Tricia Jo Webster

I don’t do whimsical. And I’m not into knickknackery. But that didn’t stop me from spending three hours – that’s right, THREE HOURS – at Hobby Lobby last Saturday.

Mom and I walked in and it was like time just sort of melted into a glittery expanse of every gewgaw created for the upcoming holidays … Halloween. Thanksgiving. Christmas … OMG, don’t even get me started on the Christmas stuff.

A little further in we found themed décor of every ilk: Cowboy cabins; Diva dwellings; Fisherman hideouts; Parisian escapes … baskets, lamps, candles, wall hangings … you name it, we saw it.

And then we took a left turn into the craft supplies. Sweet Mother of God. I didn’t know if I should feel inspired, inferior or overwhelmed. Canvases. Models. Fabrics. Glitter! Sugars. Dyes … so much. So, so much.

Next time I’m packing a snack.

Find Hobby Lobby at 13902 E. Indiana in Spokane Valley. Seriously, bring a lunch.
