Mixed breeds pay a price
She was young, scared, skinny, a mixed breed. Because she was starved she did not do well on the “test” every impounded dog is subjected to. So she could not be put up for adoption.
Rescue e-mails were flying, tears were flowing when the inevitable became clear: Everybody was full and there was no room for a mixed-breed animal needing special attention. Breed rescues will take mixes IF there is room.
Thanks to all of you who don’t provide a safe fenced haven for your pets (chains are not OK), letting them become strays, and all of those out there who don’t have their animals spayed/neutered, so they breed freely, creating mixed offspring. Because of you, this scared youngster without a name or a home was euthanized, paying the ultimate price for human thoughtlessness.
Our deepest appreciation goes to the staff of SCRAPS who are trying their best to find homes or rescues for these lost souls. They have to deal with the dire consequences of too many people’s irresponsibility.
Don’t buy puppies. Spay, neuter, chip and get “secondhand” love. My three recycled dogs are repaying my love in spades.
Rest in peace, sweet girl No. 4905.
