Nothing to look forward to but Javier Redux

It’s the time of year when nothing interesting is coming out, except maybe at the Magic Lantern.

Among the mainstream openings: ” Source Code ” (sci-fi mystery starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a guy trying to manipulate time so that he can foil a terroritst attack), “Insidious” (evil spirits invade the body of a comatose child) and “Hop” (a live-action/animation combo about the obstreperous son of, uh, the Easter Bunny?).

At the Magic Lantern, “Biutiful” is opening. And, yes, it played briefly at the AMC. But the Lantern has its own audience, which should come out to see the great Javier Bardem.
