I’m still caught up in the ‘Source Code’
There’s a whole new menu of films opening today, but I’m still caught up in “Source Code,” which was last Friday’s opener . That’s appropriate since the film is all about space and time.
Directed by Duncan Jones, the same Brit director who gave us the intriguing “Moon,” this blend of sci-fi and mystery will keep you occupied throughout its 93-minute running time. You’re likely to be confused a bit by the “science” involved, but that’s only natural. Check out any Science Channel show about immense black holes and you’ll see that there’s a lot to be confused about.
Besides, most of the movie’s plot holes — and there are a few, mostly involving the notion of time — won’t occur to you until later.
For that hour and a half, Jake Gyllenhaal’s blue eyes and Jones’ quick-cut editing will provide you with one of the better conceived imaginative trips in recent memory.
