Doin’ the ‘Dito

Last week Eric’s friend Kevin flew in from DC to spend a week. He’s a strapping dude who makes Eric and I look even more hobbit-like than we’re outwardly comfortable with. And he can seriously put some food away — but then, that’s almost a friendship requirement in this family.

Turns out he was making up for lost time during his visit with us. See, he’s marrying a personal trainer who has him on a regimented food intake plan back home (we don’t use the word diet around here unless it’s connected to Coke, with rum) and for some reason he took it upon himself to challenge the Mr. and I to a lifestyle change.

As soon as his plane landed in DC last Tuesday he was emailing us a suggested eating plan, and he double dog dared us to try it for two weeks.

We began this little misadventure in monotony on Wednesday and made it two complete days before feelike like we’d earned ourselves a break from the routine. That’s what weekends are all about. Am I right?

I understand today is Tuesday, so we really have no acceptable excuse for tonight’s behavior. But take one look at the dinner Eric and I inserted into our regimented food intake plan tonight and tell me you don’t understand why we decided to stray.
