On being a ‘Global Citizen’
I’ve had many an occasion to snub my nose at Rick Steves. Florence, Italy, as a day trip? Please.
But I respect the man’s passion for travel. Which is why I think it would be a good idea for fans of travel to attend the talk that Steves is giving at 5 p.m. today at Gonzaga University’s Cataldo Hall. Titled “Travel As a Political Act: Going From Casual Tourst to Global Citizen,” the talk should be informative and engaging. It costs $20 at the door.
Just don’t get him started on Florence. I’ve visited the city a half dozen times and I still haven’t seen everything it has to offer.
