Yeah, that’s a plate full of meat bits
Adding another great spot to my “Why have I never stopped in here before?” list … The Red Lion BBQ & Pub ! Holy meat sweats — this place knows how to do BBQ.
A big hungry group of us descended on this downtown hideaway last night for a Digital Development Festivus. There was Fry Bread (because a basket of regular bread just isn’t good enough, let’s fry it up and smother it in honey … yes, please!). There were nachos (a pile that’s thick and wide and deep and covered in 17 pounds of cheese). And hot wings (tasty, but they always seem like a bad return on investment if you know what I mean). And fried cheese (see bread comment above, but replace the honey with marinara). Beer (because there’s nothing better when it comes to cleansing the pallate of fatty fried food). And there were meat plates (which we deemed the “Man Plate” until we realized us grrrls were doing plenty of damage to the conveniently cut bite-sized pieces of BBQ chicken and ribs and steak and stuff — offered with ranch and fresh horseradish and quite possibly the tastiest BBQ sauce I’ve ever experienced — then we just called it the “Awesome Plate”).
On top of the gooood food and cold beer, this place has a great atmosphere. Friendly, familiar service and the decor made me feel like I’d stepped back into Old School Spokane (and I mean that in a good way!).
Check it out: 126 N. Division, across Main from the Globe.
