Uh, does Jeff Bridges have a foot fetish?
Oscar nominations are out tomorrow. Question is, who will end up on the long list of nominees?
Natalie Portman has to be a favorite for “Black Swan.” Not only did she win the Golden Globe but, based on her animated performance in “No Strings Attached,” her restrained portrayal of a psycho ballerina in Darren Aranofsky’ s film shows just how talented she is (there were those somnambulent “Star Wars” roles, but that’s another story).
“True Grit” is bound to get a nomination, though the only real reasons why are, 1, the list of Best Picture nominees again is 10 and, 2, Hollywood loves to honor the Coen brothers (it makes them look good). Same for Annette Bening and for the film she stars in, “The Kids Are All Right,” which was a film I detested.
Other likely nominations:
Film: “The Social Network,” “Black Swan,” “The Fighter,” “The King’s Speech,” “Toy Story 3,” “Inception,” “127 Hours.”
Actor: Colin Firth (“The King’s Speech”), Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”), James Franco (“127 Hours”), Jeff Bridges (“True Grit”).
Director: Darren Aranofsky (“Black Swan”), David Fincher (“The Social Network”), Christopher Nolan (“Inception”), Danny Boyle (“127 Hours”), the Coens.
It’ll all come clear tomorrow morning. The ceremony, by the way, will be aired Feb. 27.
