Flat out delicious

Tricia Jo Webster

Slipping into the Davenport for a weekday breakfast is easy-access decadence. The always-spotless sliding glass doors are a portal to one of my favorite anytime escapes. Walk in and there you are, in a place that feels completely different from any other spot in the city. Lush and cavernous, the lobby (for this particular post I’m referring to the Davenport Tower, but the original is stunning in its own amazing way) effortlessly invites you to sink into a booth, stay a while and think, “Wow, it feels good to get away from it all.”

The service is impeccable — we always feel like they give us just as much attention as tried-and-true hotel guests (we know how that feels, thanks to a blissful staycation). And the food never disappoints.

This morning we each had a flatbread breakfast pizza (you get to choose your own toppings) — mine featured fluffy eggs, just-crisp-enough potatoes, spinach, onions and sweet peppers snuggled under a beautiful blanket of brie. Seriously, after a start like that, how can your day be anything but amazing?

Plus, if you situate yourself in line with the elevators or the hotel entrance, the people watching is mesmerizing.
