We’ll take two seats on the aisle, please

In Doha, Qatar, as in many other places in the world, you have to purchase specific seats in a movie theater. So on Monday afternoon, when we went to the Landmark Cinemas here in Doha to see “The Cabin in the Woods,” we were happy to find that only seven seats in the 108-seat movie house were taken. As you can see from the above photo, we took seats 1 and 2, placing us on the extreme right-hand side of the fifth row.

So, OK, we didn’t get to sit in banked stadium-type seats, the way you can in most Spokane-area theaters. But neither were we subjected to 20 minutes of tiresome ads and coming attractions. I’d say we came out ahead.
