Cusack stars in Poe and the PoPo
I’m not sure I can accept John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. Lloyd Dobler , sure. But as the writer of dark poetry and prose, the consumptive author who died at age 40 of a mysterious illness “variously attributed,” according to Wikipedia, “to alcohol, brain congestion, cholers drugs, heart disease, rabies, suicide, tuberculosis, and other agents”? Doubtful.
Still, I look forward to “The Raven,” a mystery that features Cusack as the great Poe, caught up in a wave of serial killings committed, seemingly, following the model of the author’s darkly imagined works. The film opens Friday in mainstream theaters. Can’t wait.
