Big Brother to the world
I am holding a copy of a 2005 letter to President George Bush in which I advised him that any training in Iraqi police by us will be resented and held against us.
This is exactly what has happened. (“Auditors say $200 million wasted training Iraqi police,” July 31).
When Bush covertly began assigning American police executives to train nationals to take over our role, he overlooked two factors. Iraq is not America; and America is once again playing Big Brother to the rest of the world.
The very thing which we once resented in Britain, we are doing ourselves. And Afghans feel the same.
Is it any wonder that much of the world’s population views us as ugly?
