Beer in Rio is cold and tasty …
The purpose of this blog is to highlight things that are happening locally. As in Spokane or the near Inland Northwest. And, like Tricia Jo, I try to hold to that standard.
But this has been an unusual year for my wife Mary Pat and me. One full of travel. And we’ve gone to a number of places, from Alaska to Italy, New York to Qatar, Baltimore to Cape Cod … and for the past week we have been in Brazil. First Rio de Janeiro and now Sao Paulo.
So I face a choice: Either to blog nothing, to pretend I’m still in Spokane and write about stuff that I’m not experiencing personally, or to share what we’ve been seeing in one of the world’s thriving economies.
Since it’s a lazy Sunday afternoon, we’ve spent the day walking around this section of Sao Paulo, and I’m tired of watching the Olympics to the hotel television (and let me just say here that the NBA Olympians were lucky to get past the plucky Pau Gasol-led Spanish team), I thought I’d share at least one photo that Tricia Jo would be proud of.
It’s of an ice-cold glass of Bohemia beer that I drank a couple of days ago in Rio. And, yeah, I was humming “The Girl From Ipanema” as I did so. But more on that later.
