Vote for strong community
Strong schools equal strong communities. Public schools provide the well-rounded education students deserve and communities need. Our state funds “basic education” for students. There is much our children need that’s not considered basic education.
School counselors provide emotional support for students. Special education and English Language Learner teachers provide specialized academic support. Art, music, library, electives and extracurricular activities enrich the lives of our kids. Instructional assistants, security officers, bus drivers, office staff and custodians keep our schools running smoothly. Smaller classes allow teachers to dedicate more time to each student to promote academic, social and emotional growth.
These programs and professionals are vital to our schools yet are not considered “basic education.” If we want them, the only way to pay for them is with local levy money.
As a parent, I want them for my children. As a teacher, I want them for my students. As a citizen, I want them for our community.
On Feb. 14, we have the opportunity to pass our replacement levy. Vote yes for kids, strong schools and a strong community.
