Do you miss what’s missing?

Tricia Jo Webster

Wow. It’s been a looooong winter. I didn’t truly realize just how long until Kegan and I took a walk across the bridges in Riverfront Park last week. What we saw — or didn’t see — when we got to the bridge behind Anthony’s made us stop in our tracks. The water was raging and misting over the bridge. Seagulls were floating on the breeze and … what they hey???

Last time we walked through this part of the park there were piles of rubble that looked like a warzone. The old YMCA was in a state of deconstructed shambles. And it was kind of sad. But on this particular day the sun was shining on a grassy expanse with obvious landscaping details and rocks and even a little creek of some sort. It was still fenced off, and may be for a while, but gone are the huge disturbing chunks of concrete and strands of strained rebar.

Obviously, we need to get out more often.
