Pretty is as pretty does
So, a lot of us will be getting mucky and dirty and filthy this weekend. We’ll be trudging through mud, rolling in mud and probably even eating mud (completely unintentional but it happens) at the Dirty Dash .
But there’s another group of peeps who will eschew the grime for all things glittery and glam. They’ll be primping and styling and showcasing gorgeousness at the June Bridal and Beauty Social, and they’d like you to join them.
The event is part of the Glen Dow Esthetics Senior Project and it happens between 11 and 2 this Saturday (that’s tomorrow) at Glen Dow. Graduating students will be doing a makeup demonstration, sharing beauty tips and conducting skin analysis (why is your skin dry here but oily there? they can probably tell you). With the help of mannequins, the Cosmetology and Nail Tech students will be showcasing bridal updos and nail designs that you’ll get to judge (because sometimes being judgey is kind of fun).
Students have worked with local small businesses, Fairchild AFB and Salon Services to compile an impressive selection of items — from makeup services, spray tanning and jewelry to cupcakes, truffles, handmade headbands and more — for a silent auction. All proceeds from the silent auction will be going to St. Margaret’s Shelter for Women and Children, so bring your checkbook and take advantage of good deals while doing good for your community!
Don’t let the name fool you … even though Bridal is in the title, this event is open to anyone — all ages, male or female — who’s interested in skincare and makeup and looking amazing from head to toe. It’s also open to anyone who can’t figure out how to get mud out of their hair, so, yeah, you’ll probably see me there!
