COUGARS
FROM LOS ANGELES — It’s the Tuesday before the Pac-12 tournament, which means we have a look back at the conference’s regular season awards, as well as ahead to what the tournament may have in store. We have links that cover both categories.
We put together a short story about WSU’s Pac-12 honorees, which included Brock Motum (Most Improved Player of the Year, first-team all-conference), Reggie Moore (all-conference honorable mention), Marcus Capers (all-defensive honorable mention) and DaVonte Lacy (all-freshman honorable mention). You can read comments from Ken Bone’s teleconference, as well as some reaction to the awards from Motum and Moore, in this blog post . … Here’s a look at WSU from Fox Sports West, which uses some quotes told to me after the Cougars’ loss to UCLA. … Along with 27 other scribes and media types, I was asked to participate in the San Jose Mercury News’ Pac-12 media survey , which I think you’ll enjoy. … There are lots of stories about there detailing each team’s all-conference awards, so instead of linking every single one of them, we’ll just pass along our blog post from earlier with all of the honors listed .
If Arizona doesn’t win the Pac-12 tourney, it would be interested in playing in the NIT. … Terrence Ross doesn’t sound too upset about missing out on the Player of the Year award. … In response to Jorge Gutierrez winning Player of the Year, Cal coach Mike Montgomery said he’s ” not trading Jorge for anybody.” … Sounds as if the Pac-12 tournament is destined for Las Vegas (!!!) despite efforts from another city to host it. … The Utes will resume their rivalry with Utah State in a few years. … Oregon wants to leave the NCAA committee out of their postseason plans . … USC begins spring football practices today. … Doug Haller has some thoughts on the Pac-12 basketball awards. … Bud Withers has thoughts , too.
That’s all for now — oh, and a day-after-birthday shout-out to my girlfriend, Kim. Better late than never.
