Four score and seven vampires ago …

One of the more curious, though sometimes entertaining, genres has been the blend of historical figures (or fiction) and contemporary horror. Seth Grahame-Smith’s “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, ” for example.

But I couldn’t help but laugh out loud today during the trailers that screened before a noon showing of “Wrath of the Titans.” Especially during the one for the film “The Raven,” which stars John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in a film that plays like a Hammer Production meets “CSI.”

And, of course, as I walked out of the Airway Heights Village Center Cinemas, I saw a poster for a film that made me laugh even louder: “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.” And wouldn’t you know? It’s based on a novel written by, you guessed it, Seth Grahame-Smith.

Guy’s gonna ride this new genre as far as he can. Can’t wait for “Winnie the Pooh: The Werewolf Years.”
