DeLaurenti offers some tasty treats

Some readers of The Spokesman-Review will remember Leslie Kelly , the best food writer the paper has ever had. Leslie went on to write for the Memphis Commericial-Appeal and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and now is writing for a range of publications, both print and online, and is writing a book. Last night in Seattle, she, husband John Nelson and I attended an event at DeLaurenti Specialty Food & Wine shop, which is located on Seattle’s First Ave., just in front of the Pike Street Market .

This place serves some truly delicious stuff, from cheeses to meats and breads and all sorts of imported goods. We even saw a French version of Bromo-Seltzer, which I imagined I would have to take after eating the array of rich cheeses and meats that the shop had on display. But even after sampling some of the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had, plus a cous-cous salad that was to die for, all washed down with a tasty Italian pinot grigio, I had no gastronomic distress at all.

And Leslie, as you can see from the photo above, was there to record it all.
