Then She Said, “Hi, Paul”
On his Slice blog
, Paul Turner writes of a chance encounter: “I was walking over to Thai on 1st for a
long-planned lunch with a friend. A woman on a bike waved at me. Thoughtfully realizing I might not recognize her because of her helmet and sunglasses, she said “Hi, Paul — it’s Suzi Hokonson.”I have known her more than 20 years. She was very encouraging when I first started riding a bike to work in 2008. So naturally, I waved back and shouted “Hi, Cindy!”
Question: When did you last fail to recognize someone you know because they’re wearing sunglasses, a hat, or a a different setting than you’re accustomed to seeing them? What do you do to recover?
