This breakfast is a beauty

Tricia Jo Webster

I could easily go shopping and buy all the ingredients to make myself a breakfast bagel sandwich. But why on Earth would I do a thing like that when the crew at Little Garden Cafe will so skillfully do it for me?

After a run through the Audubon neighborhood, interrupted by a stop at a killer garage sale, we ordered breakfast then plunked ourselves down at the cafe’s widow-seat eating bar and watched the world go by. Dog walkers. Red wagon pullers. Tikes on bikes and teenagers begrudgingly sharing a seat on the sunshiny sidewalk with their (lame so obviously lame) parents.

I can’t remember everything that was so craftily nestled inside this Sundried Tomato & Asiago bagel, but I am certain there was ham and cheddar, sprouts (which always taste so good when someone else includes them in things but when I try at home food always take on a slight flavor of dirt), thyme and a creamy herby spread. My god it was good. Like, so good I didn’t even feel the need to follow it up with a cupcake good.

You’ll find the Little Garden Cafe at 2901 W. Northwest Blvd, in the Audubon neighborhood.
