Phaedrus: Becoming A Better Son

Phaedrus (re: “Beautiful Nate”: When it all goes wrong ): I put my parent’s through hell for years; they raised 5 children, but I’m the only one who pushed them to their limits. At the age of 37, with two small children, I finally started to get my act together. I met with my mom to make amends. When I asked her what were the things that had hurt her, she spoke of the hours upon hours of peace of mind that I stole from her. I asked what I could do to make amends for that and she said, “Be a better father than you were a son.” Every day, for the past 19 years, when I open my eyes that is the first thing I think about. And every day that is what I do. My mom died three weeks ago and I was blessed with the opportunity to spend time with her in hospice before she died. I finally got to be a better son. (Amazon cover of “Beautiful Nate” by Dennis Mansfield, which launched this discussion)

Question: Were you an easy child for your parents to raise?
