Meryl Streep, who indeed needs no introduction, steps into the spotlight to accounce Best Actor: This has to go to Daniel Day-Lewis, but Bradley Cooper is definitely good in “Silver Linings Playbook.” As was Denzel Washington in “Flight.”

The winner: Daniel Day-Lewis. Perhaps the screen actor of his generation … even if his Lincoln voice, though, authentic, did sound a tad funny.
