Critical to be involved

I am responding to the April 20 letter from Paul Lee. Clearly, he is not a fan of Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and neither am I. What concerned me was Lee’s statement that her “response has saved me from the future struggles of being involved with the political process in this country.”

People who take the time to go to roundtable meetings and ask questions of our representatives are very important people, and necessary to the well-being of our country. And when Lee takes the time to write a letter to the editor, he is doing our community and our country a service. If citizens are not involved in the political process, we are truly on a downhill run.

I am 78 years old, and I have seen any number of egocentric and impossibly irritating politicians. But it is the duty of citizens to stay involved, speak up and be a positive influence in electing qualified and dedicated public servants. Please don’t give up.
