Selective Service System still exists

Perhaps you already knew that.

But if I did, I had forgotten. Until, that is, I saw a stack of “It’s the law” pamphlets in a post office branch.

Yes, there is no draft right now. Hasn’t been for 40 years. But apparently men 18 to 25 are still supposed to register.

I’m not sure what surprised me more: The fact that the Selective Service is still taking names or that only males are required to sign up.
