Losing humanitarianism

I am disgusted by our handling of the growing immigration epidemic at our southern border. Unaccompanied children, mostly from Central America, are arriving after enduring weeks of horrible experiences. I can only imagine the place a parent reaches to allow a young child to go. Often they are threatened with violence or death against remaining family members, if a child isn’t handed over to the monsters running the show.

Our president was urged to send them back. I understand this is an effort to discourage others to follow, but really? Where are our humanitarian efforts, and does an upcoming election direct the course of action we are taking? These are innocent children sent with the hope of escaping a nightmare.

I know there are others who would rather money be spent for what is good for the human race, instead of funding military action. We get involved with civil war in nations that we have no business messing with. Increasing our holdings worldwide, strutting our strength and power and turning our backs on the nightmare at the border. We should be ashamed.

Yes, terrorists must be stopped, but let’s not turn our back on the nightmare at home.
