Paul’s People, No. 29

Dan Hansen is, quite simply, one of the best guys around.

And I don’t say that just because he has passed along some Grade A column fodder over the years. Everyone says it.

Dan used to be a reporter and editor here at the SR. He had it all: 1) Hard working. 2) Sense of humor. 3) Ability to marvel at the absurd.

Now he works for STCU. They are lucky to have him.

How long has Dan been a Slice reader? I’ll tell you. His daughter, who showed up in the column a time or two when she was just a little kid, made Dan a grandfather last year.

That has to blow his mind. Why it was just yesterday, back in 1997 when she was 4, that she was all excited about her new “zucchini” swimsuit.

She probably meant “bikini,” but you never know with kids.

At just about any decent sized business, people come and people go. All you can do is wish them well.

But I still miss seeing Dan in the newsroom every day.
