Another D-Day has arrived
And I still haven’t done what I have been meaning to for years.
That is, talk to Russian immigrants in Spokane and ask them if they have encountered any Americans who seem to believe the U.S. won the war virtually by itself.
Easy to say. Harder to do. It would not be a simple matter to line up meaningful interviews, for several reasons.
But I have wondered. Are there are immigrants in our midst who occasionally find themselves thinking, “Yes, the Western Front was crucial, but 20 million Russians died in the years of horror, sapping the Nazis’ ability to wage war.”
