If it’s “North” Idaho, why isn’t it “East” Washington?
I’ll start, then you can add to this. It would be a plus if you know what you’re talking about, but that is not absolutely necessary.
1. The whole “North” thing is partly a legacy of a long-ago separatist sentiment not altogether unlike “West” Virginia, though the issues were different. Eastern Washington and Western Washington might not always see eye to eye, but back around the time of statehood there was not an issue quite like Idaho’s geographically distinct attitudes about the LDS church.
